Patrick’s alma mater St Chad’s, Durham have bestowed an Honorary Fellowship on him for his “exemplary contribution to music”. Principal Margaret Masson presented the honour and new academic hood to Patrick following the stunning candlelit Advent Procession in Durham Cathedral where the Chad’s College Choir had premiered his new work for Advent – Come, Lord Jesus – written as a gift to the choir.
Patrick was the St Chad’s Organ Scholar, reading for his BA Music at Durham 1977-1980 and for his MA 1980-81. Patrick is looking forward to continuing to work closely with the students and college over the coming years.
